From left to right are: Chief "Crooked Nose" Henry Elk Rivers, Chief Ben Whiteshield, Chief Sam Standingwater, and Chief Rim Turtle. Ben Whiteshield was the Principle Chief and the others were Sub-chiefs. The girl in Sam's lap is Ruth AnnStandingwater, his granddaughter and who is five years younger than me .  My father, who was born in 1918 on Indian land, less than a mile from the property, now owns the land that was originally allotted Crooked Nose. The land sold by auction in 1967.
