A Thanksgiving Oklahoma Mountain Climb

Thanksgiving 2008 was a wonderful day at my house. My children, DaLeesa, Dorena, Philip, and I spent Thanksgiving morning climbing the Gloss Mountain in Major County, which is located 40 miles west of Enid. Together (I being quite a bit slower and much less agile than the children), we ascended the mountain and traversed the trail over the entire length of the somewhat flat mountain.

I've climbed numerous mountains in my 67 years of living on Planet Earth, but  I've never had an occasion to climb a mountain on Thanksgiving Day. It was a pleasant Oklahoma day, the temperature being roughly 60* degrees at the top with a mild breeze out of the south.
