Carter Cousin's Camp - 2006
The 7th annual Carter "Cousin Camp" was held June 26 – June 30th at the home of Bob and Mary John Carter. The cousins are the grandchildren of Bob and Mary John Carter and the great grandchildren of John and Loy Flick of Hammon. This year all cousins were able to come, even Kaydee, who is the youngest of the eight. Those attending this year's camp were Kayla 13, Jesse 10. and Jason 7, children of David Liz of Verdigris. OK; Kelin 10, Keeley '7 and Kaydee 3, children of Dyan and Kevin Harrison of Perryton, TX; Wyatt 11, Weston 7, children of Dean and Wendi Carter of Gallatin. TN. Hannah Christian. daughter of Jack and Brenda also attended camp a day or two. Also helping Grandma and Grandpa Carter were Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Flick. Aunt Jane and Uncle David. We started out the week by going to Elk City and being fitted with boots from the "Boot Man". Kids can't go fishing and ride horses with flip-flops! We met the Boot Man at the city park and tried on boots until all 8 had boots to wear! Some of the activities enjoyed were: riding horses, playing in the water slide in the yard, painting Grandpa's storage container with graffiti, shooting off paper rockets that the kids made themselves (Paul Sexton gave instructions), fishing in the pond with Grandpa, swimming, playing chicken foot with Big Grandma and Big Grandpa Flick (a few at a times). Uncle David helped the kids remember how to pronounce their Indian names, which were given to them by Edwin and Margie Pewo. Their Indian names were printed on the backs of their CC shirts. (Cousin Shelly Flick made our CC shirts again this year!) All CC activities were too numerous to mention. They' were busy every minute! Since all the cousins live in different states, having "Cousin Camp" allows each of them to get to know and play with their cousins. Everyone is looking forward to next year's camp. |
