Oklahoma News: Summer Mission Activities
In the spring we had a great CBF of Oklahoma General Assembly at First Baptist Church, Oklahoma City. Many, many have said the biggest and best ever! Our featured speakers, Hardy Clemons, Paul Montacute of the BWA and Grace Powell Freeman from CBF Atlanta exhorted, challenged and inspired us. As summer began, so did a period of intense missions activity for CBFO and our churches. First Baptist, Lawton, and Braden Park, Tulsa took groups to South Dakota to work in CBF National’s Partners in Hope project there. Other congregations including First Baptist churches of Shawnee, Stillwater and Oklahoma City, Northwest of Ardmore, Tulledega Hills of Henryetta, and NorthHaven of Norman have worked in Canton, OK with our new Native American church there. They have done everything from renovation & painting to children’s work & evangelism. We had a large gathering of Oklahomans at the state meeting in Grapevine and enjoyed fellowship and hearing from partners. His Nets, a CBF of Oklahoma mission project, distributed nearly 2000 insecticide treated mosquito nets in Ghana in June. Thanks to that ministry, thousands of people will be malaria free for many years to come. Recently we were also able to partner with the Braden Park Baptist Church in Tulsa to help La Nueva Jerusalem, or The New Jerusalem Hispanic Baptist church to buy a building. |
